How to confirm the camera in your hand is an original APEXIS one?

There is some stickers at the bottom, MAC address, QC sticker, DDNS etc.

APM-J011-WS supports upto 13 languages, English, Germany, Spanish, Korean, Portuguese, French, Russian, Arabic, Polish, Italian, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese etc.

For all the same level MJPEG series ip cameras on the market, such as Foscam FI8908W, the basic functions are the same, such as Pan/Tilt, Motion detection, Email alert, Wifi supported, IO alarm, FTP upload etc. APEXIS APM-J011-WS has some specified functions:
1. Free DDNS bound. Every camera has a factory DDNS. This is a very important feature, customers needn’t to register a separate free ddns anymore, and it’s absolutely safe.
2. Support Gmail/Hotmail. It’s a big advantage for these MJPEG ip cameras.
3. Sound on alarm. This is a special function, can control the sound if alarm triggered.
4. Record on alarm. This is a special function, can control the record if alarm triggerred.
5. Call preset once power on. This is a big advangate, for example, sometimes, customer set the direction of the camera already, if the camera power off suddenly, when restarted, the camera will rotate and stop at the central position, if has "Call preset once power on", users can set some positions as preset, and enable this function, anytime the camera restart, it will back to the position you want.
6. MSN settings. Can work with MSN friendly, convenient for customers, upto 10 users. (Release soon)
7. VLC mode. It supports VLC. (Release soon)
8. IPClient(CMS) software. APEXIS has its own CMS software, V1.0.0.11 released on 2011-6-4, download it from http://www.apexis.com.cn/en/download.html, it’s can really get 24/7 work mode, support H.264 series cameras, MPEG-4 vedio compression, E-map alarm etc.

My cam is the APM-J011-POE shown here http://apexis-us.com/products/apexis-apm-j011-poe-wireless-ip-camera.html
I selected the POE (Power over Ethernet) model as I thought I would use that feature.
I have found no information about the POE feature of this cam and the book that came with it is for the WS model and has no information about it's POE at all.

Today I am waiting delivery of a second camera which is the wirless model APM-J011-IRC

I hope I do not have to much trouble geting the APM-J011-WS working along with my other cam.

thanks, i just want more and more people know how to operate this camera, if they have questions or experience, we could share together, i suggest you can open a topic of POE, because this is a new feature, most of the MJPEG camera don't have this function, surely, Sony, Axis, Panasonic have their POE cameras.

The features of APM-J011-WS is a little different, this is a WIFI model, APM-J011-POE is a wired one, supports POE function, anyway, we could share here with experience and questions, hope more people join us to discuss about it.

DDNS：All IP Cameras must support DDNS, it’s for remote login and control via internet, some manufacturer provide free factory DDNS, customers no more need register account by themselves, the provider pay all the DDNS server cost, maintain everything to make sure it works well all the time, the end-users can enjoy their products.
Get free DDNS from: www.dyndns.org.
Active the DDNS need two steps to finish it, firstly, set a port for the camera except the default 80, then set port forwarding in your router, make sure it’s active.

Mail function is important and useful for customers, for APM-J011-WS, it supports Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo and other email servers which support SMTP. I have tested Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, works perfect. Most people like me use gmail or hotmail, so it’s very useful for me, I like it so much!

Sound on alarm/Record on alarm, these are detailed functions, we could understand that APEXIS is really focus on details, some customers will thank for APEXIS, if they don’t want to hear the sound once alarmed, or if they don’t want to record for every alarm, they can set it here.

I know in some stores, they always play soft music to attract customers, for example, if they installed normal similar cameras on the market like FI8918W, set motion detection alarm, every alarm will show a bee sound together, if use APM-J011-WS, erase sound on alarm, excellent!

Call the preset position is a new feature. We could see APEXIS focus on details again, the current APM-J011-WS supports PRESET, but there is a truth, if the camera have preset function, anytime it’s reboot, the camera will rotate and stop at the central position, because the software have to check all the preset works fine, the motor works fine before working, then users will face a problem, if I want the camera to see the fixed direction all the time, when the camera reboot, it will change the direction because of the self-check of the rotation, it’s troublesome.
Now, with Call the preset position, we could set some positions as preset, anytime the camera reboot, it will back to the position you want.

Actually IPClient software is a very good PC client, it relise 24/7 monitoring. It's valueable for us to research and enjoy it.

APEXIS APM-J011-WS supports frame rate adjustment, this is very important.
1. Full speed: 25/30fps
2. 20fps
3. 15fps
4. 10fps
5. 5fps
6. 4fps
7. 3fps

We use PC to do recording, and normally, the hardisk is not so big enough, from 10GB-1TB, we know the MJPEG cameras with low video compression, it means, if realtime with VGA, 1 hour, the record file may upto 900MB, if all the video content has movement, the record will be upto 1GB to 1.2GB.
We could say, 24hours recording, VGA, realtime, average upto 24GB/day.
if use 1TB hardisk,
1 camera, means approx 67days.
2 cameras, means approx 21days.
3 cameras, means approx 14days.
4 cameras, means approx 10days.

Then, if we set the rate, such as 5fps, VGA, 1 hour, record file upto 600MB. Average 14GB/day.
For 1TB hardisk,
1camera, means approx 73days.
2 cameras, means approx 37days.
3 cameras, means approx 24days.
4 cameras, means approx 18days.

If set 1fp/5s, VGA, 1hour, record file only 37MB.

And, If use APEXIS IPClient(CMS) software, set MPEG-4 video compression, VGA, realtime, 1 hour, approx 140MB.
So, for MPEG-4 video compression, the value as below:
Realtime, VGA, average 3.3GB/day
For 1TB hardisk,
1camera, means approx 310days.
2 cameras, means approx 155days.
3 cameras, means approx 103days.
4 cameras, means approx 78days.

So, end-users can set the frame rate or user IPClient software according to their device and hardisk. One more function for the IPClient software, it supports auto cover function, means if the hardisk is full, it will cover the oldest file automatically, excellent function!!!

Good looking on the package .and i have bought one camera from the Germany reseller ,there is with Germany user manual ,that is wonderful .

Email service is very important too. We can set email alert, get alarm notification together with snapshots. APEXIS APM-J011-WS supports motion detection, every alarm triggered last 1 minute, take 6 snapshots during each alarm, the snapshots named by date and time, also it has the camera MAC address.
